MATASKÄR ISLAND
Set within Espoo's coastal archipelago.
Forest, shoreline and cultural landscape form a seamless, undisturbed whole. Just minutes from Helsinki, yet defined by stillness, privacy and a complete sense of removal from the everyday.
Accommodation is deliberately limited to hotel building with rooms and suites, complemented by private villas — shaped by Nordic simplicity, natural materials and a refined sense of permanence.

The letter
Matasaari is being prepared, quietly, for a future that is consistent with its past.
A low-density sanctuary in the archipelago, designed to preserve far more than it changes. A boutique hotel of approximately 25–50 rooms, carefully integrated into the landscape. Multiple waterfront saunas. A spa dedicated to the rhythms of the sea and forest. A small collection of private villas. And a forest that will continue to outnumber everything we build.
The ambition is not to maximize construction, but to create a place where heritage, nature and hospitality coexist — ensuring that Matasaari remains as remarkable for future generations as it has been for those who have known it before.
The zoning amendment is progressing through the City of Espoo. The planning team was appointed in May 2026, and the project is supported by Enter Espoo and Espoo’s Economic Development leadership as a long-term investment in sustainable tourism, hospitality and regional vitality. The direction is clear, and each step brings the vision for Matasaari closer to reality.
